Monday 2nd Feb26th January:
A massive well done to all those that attended the Archery GB Instructor course this weekend. All passed with flying colours. A big thank you to Trish Lovell who did our assessments on the Sunday, and a well done to Demi Roberts who herself became an Instructor last January and an Instructor+ Plus in September. Demi assisted me on Saturday and helped keep control on Sunday as we had 15 on the course, was on hand to answer any extra questions whilst our newbies waiting patiently for their assessments. Demi looking to start her Session Coach path later this year and did a fantastic job shadowing to start to learn the ropes.
So what next for our New AGB Instructors, well there is an Instructor+ Plus course on 19th April at Tandridge Archers for those wanting the new skill set of sighted shooting, maintenance and 20 meter Instructing. This is a great bolt on and fantastic start for those wishing to consider starting their Coaching journey. Details and registration available on AGB website.
Possible Fundraiser March 2026:
It will take place in March & it’s called Marchers for archers, for Access Archery Fund.
People can set there own challenge e.g, 10,000 steps a day, 1,000 arrows or 10 miles a month as an example.
To sign up people will order their finishing medal, which we think will be around £15. They can then get sponsorship through a joint & individual Just giving page (hopefully).
Let you know full details as soon as they are released.
Set yourself a personal challenge this March while supporting your fellow archers with Marchers for Archers. Whether its counting arrows or going the distance, your efforts will help disabled archers by raising money for the Access Archery Fund. You can pick your own challenge or use one of our suggestions below, it’s up to you. Set up a JustGiving page by following the step-by-step instructions attached to this email or download a sponsorship form. Then head on over to our shop and order your finishers’ medal. Medals will be sent out in April, so you have all of March to complete your challenge and pay in any donations. Your money will go to the Access Archery Fund, which awards grants to clubs and activity partners to support helping more disabled people get into archery. |

Little visit to Amberley Open air Museum today with Holland. Great place and we had the chance to say hello to the Forest Knights who among a variety of things do Bowmaking weekends, if you fancy a weekend of fun go and build your own selfbow with your own handmade string. They also do Bushcraft, foraging and cooking. Sounds great fun. I have added their website to our useful links, so checkout what other fun things you can do. Don’t forget if you do go let them know I said “Hi”. Hopefully I may go and do a weekend myself next year, I did drop a massive hint when I got home.

So big news from the Paralympic games.
Team GB win Gold in the mixed pairs, I wasn’t there. But watched on TV care of Channel 4. Awesome well done to Jodie and Nathan.
Thank you “World Archery” for the perfect pictures.

Thursday 8th August 2024:
So back from Paris 2024 Olympics, what an incredible time. Two sessions of archery where I got to watch Bryony Pitman shoot against the Korean Lim, who went onto win the gold. All of Team GB archers who did an amazing job and was a pleasure to watch them, well done to Archery GB and the whole crew. Just to say the Koreans took all the gold medals across individual, team and mixed team events. Team GB archers all finished in the top 20. Bear in mind how many archers were there, that’s incredible, again well doe and onto to the next round of competitions. They have club, inter club, County, National, European, and the World championship circuit. And all the training involved to compete at this high level. Keep going we are all behind you.

That’s a Wrap: A few great graphic pictures via World Archery

Monday 29th July 2024:
You can watch all the action via Discovery+ they are doing a deal for the Olympics. You may even catch me in the audience a couple of times, never mind where’s wally or Waldo…Where’s “Weighty”?
